POWERCUT 10 × 5 Plasma Cutter
The POWERCUT 10x5 in the CR PLASMA range is the most popular and most widely used platform we offer. The POWERCUT 10x5 has 3300mm x 1530mm of working torch travel, allowing full 3000 x 1500 mm-sized sheets to be fully profiled on the machine. The system is offered with Hypertherm PMX air plasma systems as standard, can be offered with Thermal A40/A60i series of torches, and due to the fact that all systems are fully integrated by us into our controller with a machine-specific calibration, essentially any power source can be integrated.
The standard machine is offered with a PMX 125A system from Hypertherm. This specification of the machine will pierce and cut up to a 25mm steel plate.
The CR PLASMA range of machines all have the same fundamental basis as the core machine and control system. All our machines run on HIWIN rails aligned meticulously to the aluminum lengths forming the basis of the long axis motion. All machines are driven by precision-ground Gambini rack and pinions. All machines run our own Z-axis torch post lifter and the CR height controller.

Heavy-Duty Steel Downdraft Table
The POWERCUT 3 x 1.5 uses a 1,000 kg steel frame and a mechanically actuated zoned downdraft table. Table movement opens and closes the relevant extraction zones without a separate pneumatic actuation system.
XY CNC Drive System
The XY drive design draws on more than 10 years of earlier CNC router work in automotive applications. CR PLASMA states that the arrangement has since accumulated more than 20 years of plasma use. During assembly, the drive is aligned to known datums with dial gauges.
Twin-Pinion Anti-Backlash Bearboxes
The drive uses a twin-pinion anti-backlash gearbox with Gambini ground racks and pinions sourced in the European Union. The gearbox can be removed, serviced, and refitted without replacing the complete drive assembly.
Torch Post Z-Axis System
The Z-axis lifter covers are arranged to reduce dust, smoke, and debris reaching the ballscrew and linear rails. This protects the height-control mechanism during cutting.
CNC controller
All our CNC controller systems are supplied in collaboration with StoneyCNC resulting in over 10 years of experience in CNC control of CNC routers and CNC plasma systems. With over 500 CNC systems in the EU between StoneyCNC and CR PLASMA, the POWERCUT has a vast degree of experience built into its design.
Height Controller
A dedicated card controls the Z axis. CR PLASMA states that the system maintains arc-voltage height control within 0.5 V of the set value.
Auto Squaring
Auto-squaring uses separate left and right homing sensors. During the reference cycle, each side of the bridge finds its own sensor. Repeating that cycle returns the bridge square to the long axis if it was moved while the machine was off.
Cut Recovery
Cut Recovery is included on the listed controllers. If the plasma arc is lost, the controller reports the event and the operator can restart the job from the interruption point rather than discarding the full nest.
Go-To Position
Go To Position moves the torch to a selected point in a partially cut nest. Used with Cut Recovery, it lets the operator return to the location where a cutting interruption occurred and restart from that point.
Laser Alignment
A laser pointer marks the chosen X and Y origin on the table. It is also used during Plate Alignment when the sheet is not loaded parallel to the machine axes.
Plate Alignment
Plate Alignment uses the laser pointer to record 2 positions along the left edge of a loaded sheet. The controller then rotates the nest coordinates to match the measured sheet angle.
Rip Cut
Rip Cut is used to separate a remaining section of plate after parts have been removed. The operator positions the torch, enters the distance and direction, and starts the straight cut.
Interface Controller
The stated controller specification is a passively cooled Windows 10 or later PC with an Intel i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 128 GB solid-state drive. CR PLASMA selected this format to handle larger nests and the machine-control software.
Remote Support
The machine controller PC includes a spare LAN connection and a Wi-Fi card. When the customer provides an internet connection and permits access, this arrangement allows a CR PLASMA technician to assist remotely.
